You may want to avoid running the monitor until you check one thing...
This wasn't the case with all IBM monitors, but I've heard some of the early IBM monitors didn't have an on board horizontal and vertical oscillator...That means if you power them on without horizontal and vertical sync signals from the PC the monitor will destroy it's self in a few moments. I'm not a computer collector but I know enough people who are to have heard of this issue.
