It's not always a sync problem... sometimes it's the frequency at double the normal rate at least if the bottom half and top half of the image both fill the screen and overlap each other nearly completely...I had that years ago on a Zenith with bumble bee caps that instead of learning to read I replaced based on Sam's info which contained typos. If you can carefully adjust the vertical hold and get a single image that wants to roll in either direction and won't hold lock for more than a second then it's definitely a sync problem.
