color wheel tv not dead yet!

i have a compaq dlp on the bench for repair.
and what do i find inside?
an rgb color wheel!
will take some pics and post them here before it goes back home.

those have been around since 1997 or so..i think Texas instruments started those for "INFOCUS"
they spin pretty fast,one of their models you can turn a knob on top of the projector and it actually moves the wheel out of the optical block for super bright image..but of course the pic is in monochrome.
what is neat to do while the unit is on is to rotate the projector by hand.and look at the picture while you are doing this,creates some interesting effects... the gravity effect causes a loss in wheel speed.. or eh..sync..
