I have a Zenith remote control console in SUPER clean condition that I wish I could find a home for. The set looked as if it had seen little use at all when I got it as the chassis was super clean with all but I think two stock Zenith tubes in place. The crt is 24" and is VERY strong.
I got stumped be the set a couple of years ago and as I have no use for a non working set I would like to see it in the hands of someone who can repair and enjoy the set. If repaired I speculate that the set would perform well for many years due to the evident low time in service.
When I got the set it had a volume adjustable hum for sound with no signal present and no vertical sweep. I replaced all of the electrolytic and nearly all of the paper caps, and checked or replaced resistors with no improvement AT ALL. What a let down!!
Usually when I have worked with an old set you have the pleasure of seeing the set come back to life as you replace components. There must be a shorted, open circuit, or combination of the two somewhere, but I have failed to locate it. Whatever the problem is, if repaired, would allow the set to pop back to life like new. I really need the room anyhow so if anyone wants a project and can come to south central Virginia. You can have the set free of charge if I can recover at least some of my capacitors, or their cost, for use in other sets.
