Issues with LG 50PC5D Plasma set

Hi all,

A friend called me over to look at a plasma set he was given that has issues.

The power comes on, i can hear relays click, if i cycle through inputs i get static form an analog channel on the spewer.

Looking at the screen normally it looks black but if you get real close you can see it is really faint grey. And when powered back off goes back to full black.

Does anyone had experience with this set, as to what might be causing the symptoms.

Thanks,

Matt

Check the fuses on both sustain modules. A blown sustain will cause a dim (nearly gone) picture in some cases. If you find a blown fuse, I would change the panel if it is available at a decent price.

Generally loss of brightness on a plasma is a bad Z sustain board. This is the board on the far right hand side looking at the rear with the back cover off.

This model has numerous variations; with the Product Code off the back cover I can look up the proper P/N for you.
