Options for hooking up Component to HDMI tv's

First post here. Been on Audiokarma for many years.

I have an older Sony DVP-S7000 dvd player I love. This has the ability to repeat parts of a dvd with a start-end repeat function. My newer Sony Blu-Ray player doesn't have this ability.

Currently hooked up to an older Toshiba 47HL167 lcd tv using Component inputs. Works fine. My Toshiba tv remote has a Pic-Size button on it to adjust the picture ratio to several different settings so the screen has the right aspect ratio.

Have been thinking about updating the tv but all the new sets I see only have HDMI connections.

I did some searching on Google and someone mentioned some AVR receivers like the Denon AVR-X3000 you can hook up the component connections to the receiver and it will upscale the connection to an HDMI connection to feed to the newer tv.

Will this work out right? I don't want the dvd picture to look too fat on the new tv because of the wrong aspect ratio.

Thanks for any input.
