Antique radio auction in Michigan

I went to the auction that was being held today in hopes of finding a Zenith H 845 cheap and went away with two for $8.00 each! Both work great and are clean too. There were lots of goodies, console radios from the 30's and 40's test equipment, manuals etc.
Grumpy and Andy got a bunch of stereo equipment as well! I was very pleased as I had little to spend yet got more than I wanted. Heck, even the wife bought a Motorola tube portable! Looks she is interested in radios now...

Those are some nice sounding radios - possibly the best sounding Zenith table radio. I got some great stuff at the auction too. Of course, everything needs a bit of work! I'm not quite sure what the owner did. About 50% of the hifi stuff there was missing the screws. It's like he opened them up, looked inside, and then went "um, maybe I'll work on something else". Still, great stuff though.

I just refinished the cabinet and restrung the dial cord on the other one, it has all the original tubes, caps and dial lights! Sounds great still. I like the quality can 'lytics they used on those, rarely need replacement! I know what you were saying about the guy that owned all the stuff, looks like he just collected and never finished any projects....

Looking for Antique.......

Is there a fully functional Console stereo unit in really good cosmetic condition waiting for a new home? The bigger, the better?

Console stereo

Still looking for a stereo?? I have an early 60's tube operated Magnavox stereo. Am-Fm-MPX, 4 speed stereo changer. Now, it's not fully functional, but, needs basic repairs. If interested, let me know.If you don't want to do the work, you can pay me the extra, and I'll fix it. You'd have to arrange your own transportation. Cabinet is cosmetically excellent. It has 12' woofers, 5" mid-range, and horn tweeters. Uses push-pull 6BQ5 output tubes. You may contact me at: [email protected] Bill Cahill

Congrats on the great deal Capt' Moody! I'd love to find a H 845 for my Zenith table radio collection. I've missed on two offered for bid on eBay. The part about having test equipment for sale sounds interesting too. Wish they had something like a radio auction or a proper shop-o-rama here in AZ. Say, are you planning on keeping BOTH of those Zeniths? ;-) PM me if you're interested in parting with one of them, OK?

Oh, and my sickly Zenith K 731? The one with the rising and falling volume issues? I was fiddling with it this week, just playing it and checking it out and it died completely. Dead. Nothing. *Sigh*. Wish I had time to work on it, but I'm out of town until next week on assignment. Oh well, it'll be there when I get back...
