1964 Moto Console
I scored a 1964 Motorola 23" console this evening... kinda on accident. I stopped to talk to some neighbors, and he showed me an old Halliscrafters S-77A SW receiver. He told me he found it in a house at the end of our street... one that sustained a lot of damage from the hurricane. He told me he saw an old television in there, but since it was dark, wasn't sure what it was.
Being that I've always thought the old house was kinda neat, I was curious to see the insides, so we decided to go over there to look at the set. We brought the set outside and found it to be a Motorola from the 60's. I actually got the set in the front seat of the Duster and brought it home. The chassis in the set is a TS-589, date stamped on the chassis was 4-64. The 23" CRT had been replaced and is date coded from 1975. Tube tested like new. Other than some dust, the chassis looks pretty good and complete. Looks like this will be an easy one to work on. I don't plan to do anything to the set for now... got too many others to finish first. I just couldn't leave it in the old house since they will soon be coming to tear it down.... which is a shame because the house was really cool looking on the inside. Was one of the first homes on my street... built in the 30's. Here's a shot of the set, the inside, and what's left of the house I found it in.
