I had a small portable B&W when I was in the Air Force. I forget the model. I discovered that if I tuned it to a blank channel and adjusted the brightness and contrast I'd see an infinite series intersecting rotating circles in the snow.
I thought that this had something to do with the way your eyes process information and planned on trying to understand it later. But, after I gave that set away, I was never able to repeat it with any other TV. John |

I had one of those MGA TVs. It definitely had a nice picture. The tube had a very light blue tint, just as in the picture. If it is the same model I had, it's stereo with one a/v input and an audio output. The A/V interface, stereo decoder and amplifiers are on a large, vertically mounted board at the back and the circuit is quite convoluted. (It has its own power supply and uses optoisolators for the a/v jacks.) It looks like they took a mono TV without a/v inputs and designed the board as an add-on. This makes the TV very heavy for its size. In addition, the speakers are tiny and sound horrible. Mine developed problems in the audio and jungle sections so I ditched it a long time ago... I've always been a fan of urban exploration but too much of a wuss to do it myself. One of my favorite sites is http://detroitfunk.com, lots of great history there. Here in Rochester there was a factory that was abandoned for about 20 years, Photech. It was a popular urbex destination and there are lots of pics from the site. It was a former GAF factory and contaminated with photo chemicals. They finally got it torn down earlier this year. |

What's come of this TV? Has it been revived?
