Yes, the 93A-9 Sams sheet is a preliminary-schematics-only sheet. Probably what you're recalling. I don't know the model number of your TV.
Sams went with chassis numbers for those early Magnavox's for some reason.

If you're really uncomfortable with the cabinet refinishing, there's gotta be a furniture-repair shop (or ten) in the neighborhood. They'll match the original finish and probably come get it and deliver the finished product back. For a price of course. If you want to do it yourself, it looks like the hard work's done already (stripping the old finish). Home Depot or Lowe's has all you need and books and advice. It's elbow grease and common sense.

The CRT, good luck. Maybe have Hawkeye look at it..?
