Looking at mine it seems that the cage and the support brackets are one piece.
So when I remove the CRT. and then the cage...it will take away the support of the yoke. So the wires to the yoke and everything will be free hanging and not supported..becasue I need to get the cage out of the way to get at those two caps suckers in there. Thats my situation. |

I found this, I hope I don't exceed the character limit.
To service the High Voltage Scanning Assembly on Sylvania TV recevivers ... The Following is recommended to remove the plastic case from the shield box. 1. Remove the picture tube following the instructions given in the Bulletin covering the particular chassis. (bgadow, have one for the 1-387?) 2. Release the picture tube socket cable from under the lug on the left side of the box. 3. Remove the H.V. scan assembly back cover. (To do this, remove the two screws holding the cover in place. Remove the cover.) 4. Remove the two yoke wing nuts. 5. Remove the two hex head screws holding the box to the main chassis (through two tabs at the rear corners of the box.) 6. Pry the sides of the box outward slightly to release the box from the tabs on the plastic case. 7. Move the box slightly forward to release the long tab on the forward side of the box from the tabs on the chassis. (Immediately behind the 4th Video IF Transformer T58.) 8. Carefully remove the plastic case from the box being careful no to scrape the Horizontal Linearity coil and Horizontal Size Coil against the sides of the box. 9. Remove the yoke from the yoke mounting brackets. 10. Lift the box up and away from the chassis. 11. To reinstall follow the above procedure in reverse order. John |
