I wish! It's supposed to be bakelite and shaped quite differently. There are two knobs really.
A smaller diameter one for cranking around the dial rapidly.
Below that should be a disc shaped one that is depressed and twisted for fine tuning.
Here's a closeup of the proper knobs.

Thanks I'll give them a try.

I've posted a YouTube video covering these radios including a demonstration of the concentric tuning action. It's an interesting, early approach to station presets.

A Philco 38-4 just popped up in my area with that same vernier dial. Now I've got a dilemma - do I buy it just for the chassis and knobs ?
I can't possibly squeeze that cabinet into my place so I'd have to leave it out in the alley

Maybe somebody out there is looking for a nice 38-4 cabinet ?
