I understand the Magnavox I bought from Doug had the flyback replaced, and a friend of mine said he replaced a lot of Maggnavox flybacks back in the day -- he also suggested these sets didn't like incorrect high voltage setting. I wonder if the replacements were beefed up any?

Yes. I wasn't going to bid on it since I wanted to focus on more mundane expenditures, but at the last minute I had a change of heart and went for it. Who needs to pay the mortgage anyway? I can live inside a CTC-4, right? Those tubes should keep me nice and warm.
