That car brings back a lot of memories. I'm not much a auto guy now (that's a *mega* expensive hobby) and switched to motorcycles 30 years ago, but my older brother Nick owned a black 1955 New Yorker sedan when I was growing up. The radio sounded great. :-) Does yours have the stick-shift on the dash like his did? Just a great car...331-ci hemi, and worth SERIOUS $$ restored. Heck, it's probably worth a good $8-10K now, the way it sits.

Good luck getting both the radio, and its 'cabinet' back to original condition. Yeah, it'll take a lot of work, but you'll gain dollars to every penny you spend.

My 300B has a 2 speed push button automatic. They only made a few stick shift 300Bs. The stick cars are worth a bank. Don Garlits has one in his museum in Florida. I drool over it every time I am there.

I have been looking at Sencore Vibra-Dapters on ebay. They do not seem to go for very much. I would like to have the ability to test a vibrator. I am waiting for caps right now.

A local motorcycle shop does small pot metal chroming. I may have to check them out. Like to have the chrome stuff plated. Hope this puppy works.

I saw a web page where a man installed a car radio in the wall of his house. He made an power supply to go from 120 ac to 12v DC. Looked pretty cool.

A car friend collected a bunch of electroluminescent instrument clusters. He wired them all up and has them on display in his house. It is really interesting to see them all glow with the lights off.

The old drugstore tube testers like we have at the shop have a vibrator test circuit which flashes lights when the vibrator is OK...I havent opened up the tester to check the circuit but I think it just uses 2, 6 volt lamps, one in each of the vibrator contact point terminals, along w/ 6 volts to the vibrator coil.
