You want RF quiet? Move to Arecibo, Puerto Rico, near the radio telescope there. There certainly isn't any cellular near there. I had responsibility for the cellular system in PR and I know there is nothing RF anywhere near there. They probably don't have many CFL and LED light bulbs down there either.

I do have a Westinghouse WR-10A AM Only Tombstone Radio that I would be interested in selling that I had fixed up.
You don't need to worry about driving into Detroit. Just take M-14 as it splits away near Ann Arbor, then take Northbound I-96 to Farmington.

FWIW, I work in Detroit Proper every weekday. As long as you're minding your own business, not looking for a "date", or drugs, and don't cause trouble, you'll be okay.

When I worked for BellSouth, I would go down to the bottom floor of our parking deck which was six stories underground to perform tests where I didn't want any interfering RF signals. It was very dead RF-wise down there.

OK, well like I said I'll see what I can do, like I said I've never driven around Detroit before and I've always heard bad things about driving around there, that's why I always avoid driving around that area of Michigan.

Actually, from coming up from Indiana, you’ll never cross into the city of Detroit. As far as big cities go, Detroit is really pretty tame. If you drive in Saturday morning, you can probably average above 70 mph the entire way. It will be on at least a divided interstate the entire way. If you make the trip, of which I believe you enjoy, let me know and I’ll post a map.

My form of RF quiet is central Wyoming. There's hardly nobody there and in the winter it is "all you can stand" blizzard. 300 miles in diameter absolute quiet. No power lines, no dimmers, modems, led or fluorescent lights, no cars and no transmitters of any kind. Oh, and no vehicles of any kind including aircraft!

The closest highway to me that would take me that way would be US 12 which would take me most of the way there and is 55 MPH most of the way (except when you go through towns like White Pidgeon, Coldwater, Three Oaks, Mottville, etc. then the speed limit drops down to about 35-45 MPH Depending on the Village Chief (pun intended)).

Like I said I would have to check my schedule although I work on Friday and Saturday nights 3rd shift so I may not be able to make it unfortunately.
