On that monitor, what's the little green screen below the CRT? Some kind of scope display?

Phil,

Yes that green screen is a waveform monitor, that is an industrial monitor meant for "master control" used for either a camera monitor back at the control desk.

So was the scope tube used as a modulation monitor?

I guess I was thrown off a little after carrying a couple VT71s inside. The National is a couple inches taller and a little heavier.

After comparing mine to yours, I can see my knobs are all wrong
