On the vacuum.

Would it be a big deal to seal it, then melt hole and install a new service tube then pull a fresh vacuum?

I used to watch neon sign guys do it all the time. You couldnt get nearly as good a vacuum as a rebuilder but easily get 98% of the air out.

But this one apparently has a good CRT.

There's a lot more involved in bringing the 15GP22 back to life. Search this forum for 15GP22 and you'll see all the effort that Bob Galanter, John Folsom and Jerome Halphen have put into the project.

Does this imply that he would be willing to prep it for shipment? The posting indicated local pickup only. I don't think I'd trust anyone other than the seller to pack the CRT.

John,

The seller would, due to physical disabilities, be unable to pack the crt. You might inquire through the Ebay post as to how he plans to have the set and crt packed for shipment for non-local buyers.

It's interesting how often one "R-A-R-E! L@@K!" item appears and then another soon follows. It would be foolish to panic and pay too much for any object, thinking it's the last one on Earth. Even scarce things change hands now and then, for a variety of reasons.

I upped my bid to $2000.00, "reserve not met"

I had no expectations of getting it but it's a nice Adrenaline rush making a bid that high! :)

I don't plan on bidding on it. Not that I came to my senses, it's just a long ways to ship this set. It should go to someone on the west coast.
