ANOTHER CT-100..with a BIT more realistic starting bid

Here is another '100 on the "bay...in Ca. Looks a "bit" better than the "other one" discussed here.

CRT has vacuum!

I'm sure the other guy is gonna be pissed when this one goes for more than his and steals all the attention away.

Not sure, but the chassis serial number is B8001482 which would make it an earlier one right?

I was invited by VK member Steve K. to drive to San Diego, actually the suburb of Bonita, so he could check out the 15GP. This at the invitation of the owner. Bonita and the house were not easy to find, thank you GPS. The 15GP was downstairs in a carton with peanut packing material stuffed all around. The neck was exposed and the tester applied. All 3 guns lit up and tested in the good range. The set itself was located upstairs. The back was off and leaning against the cabinet. The set is complete including the crt mumetal shield, crt neck mumetal shield w/beam positioning magets, rubber insulating boot, retaining ring and attachment rods ect.The cabinet/lid # is 648. I didn't get to check the # on the panel below the pencil box. The owner is anxious to sell. But knows the value of his CT-100 and may want more then the guess estimate in the above post. He tried to restore the set some years ago and due to health problems had to stop the project. Hence the CRT being separate from the cabinet. All in all a very restorable set as can be seen in his e-bay photos. Made for a pleasent drive south for us and the seller was happy to have a good CRT. Myself and Steve K. have no personal interest in this sale. I hope a So. Ca. VK member can win and pick this set up and avoid the shipping costs.

Eric,
Apparently your bid didn't register. Currently, the bid is at $960.

I think that is how Ebay works. If your bid is less than the reserve, your bid amount will be $10 (or whatever) higher than the second highest bidder. As others increase their bids, yours will be show as slightly higher.

It's called proxy (or auto) bidding: http://pages.ebay.com/help/buy/automatic-bidding.html

If you bid less than the reserve, it will show whateverthe starting bid is. If it's over the reserve, the bid sticks at the bid amount and it's game on from there.

Hmmmm? I wasn't aware of that.
I have always operated under a different set of rules for reserve price auctions.

Slightly off topic...

On the vacuum.

Would it be a big deal to seal it, then melt hole and install a new service tube then pull a fresh vacuum?

I used to watch neon sign guys do it all the time. You couldnt get nearly as good a vacuum as a rebuilder but easily get 98% of the air out.

I have always used the following guidelines.
In an auction with a reserve price, the bids are displayed at their maximum value until the reserve price is met. At that point, proxy bidding kicks in.

If that museum that inquired about the other one is legit...they should be all over this one. It's all about the crt...

Very awesome!! Man if I had the extra spending money I would be all over that set! Whomever gets this set will be a very pleased individual! I said earlier this year that I was surprised about the CT-100's showing up. Yet this is another one. (With a good CRT too to boot)!!

Does this imply that he would be willing to prep it for shipment? The posting indicated local pickup only. I don't think I'd trust anyone other than the seller to pack the CRT.
