European to U.S conversion
 

Hey guys!
Just purchased a telefunken set.
The cord was spliced with an U.S. two-pronged extension cord wire.

I believe this set had the European 3-prong plug.

When I test the two prongs with my meter I get no reading.

When I test the original wire from the set I get a reading.

How should this set be wired for U.S. use.

Isn't the European 3-prong plug the same scheme as the U.S. one, that
is two power wires and a protective ground? You need to make sure
that your radio has a multi-voltage power transformer, and that it
is set for 110 or 120 volts. If possible, post some pictures of the rear
of the radio. Good luck, wait for some more answers if you are not sure.

Ah, it´s you again. Did your radio come in one piece? Grin.
A picture could be helpful.
Your radio has a protective ground? Must have, for you are speaking of three wires in a chord. This is unusual for old german radios. All of mine had just a two-wire chord, exception is an amplifier with an iron housing.
Did you check the two-wire chord itself? Perhaps it is broken?
The european setup for protective ground cords is: Blue=hot
brown=hot
yellow/green=protective ground.
