Restoring 37-116 Deluxe

Starting on tube shields... re-plating them first

I'm currently tracking down replacement caps and cloth cov'd wiring to "dig in" on the chasis restore.

Just what I need, another project...:scratch2:

Speker is in prisitine condition...

Very nice job on the cabinet. Be interested to see the shots along the way as the "guts" progress. Can you please explain how you are going about replating the tube shields? Having them done outside? Expensive?
Thanks,
Reece

thanx...

I do the plating myself... it's a multi step process of de-rusting (pickling) copper plating then bright nickel...

Dunno what it would cost from a commercial shop... maybe $10 - $15 each if supplied in bulk... probably with a minimum order of $100 maybe for the work?

I've started stripping the large caps and cleaning the chasis up...1st 2 cans have been d/c'd and polished.. waiting for caps to replace...

Here I've started to remove chasis rust,... I may spot plate the areas with zinc to prevent future rust.. or I may mask the non-chasis components and spray with krylon nickel... dunno yet.

Here I've made new rubber bushings for the chasis mounts to the cabinet, from a sandpaper eraser/cleaner... they're about the same durometer and work great

Really good work! Will be a fine console. It is to sad, that you can´t see the chassis anymore when reinstalled. grin.
