Philco color set... less than a day left
1 Attachment(s)
In Alabama. Claims the set works, although no photo of it on. Maybe a CTC10 or 11 clone?

Referencing "Color tv servicing made easy" (Sams 1963), Philco didn't use the RCA CTC-10 chassis. Philco's 1280,U chassis is similar to the CTC-11 chassis

generally, I think 4 knobs at the bottom means 11, 3 knobs means 12. But I'm not sure about the CTC-10's layout.
|
Which is the last vertical style chassis that stands on edge in the right hand side of the cabinet? CTC-10 or 11?
|
11 was on it's end; I've never seen a 12 in person.

O.K., I guess the 12 was the one that was like the 15 but used an octal horiz. output tube (6DQ5?)
It seems to me like the revisions of this chassis are: CTC-12: Octal H.O. tube, selenium focus rectifier, 3a3 and 6Bk4 mounted horizontally above flyback in cage. CTC-15: Similar to CTC-12 except uses 6JE6 9-pin H.O. tube. CTC-16: Uses the flyback where the 3A3 plugs into it. Uses a tube type focus rectifier. CTC-17: Same as CTC-16 but uses rectangular crt, adding pincushion components and degausser. CTC-25: Similar to CTC-17 but uses transistorized audio section. CTC-28: Returns to tube type audio section. CTC-35: All models equipped for remote control. All of these seem to be essentially similar...there were also some other changes along the way, such as using a bridge rectifier rather than a voltage doubler and substituting solid state diodes for the 6JU8. |
CTC-Knobs
The RCA Field Service Guide shows the CTC-10 & 11 had 4 knobs on the bottom. The CTC-12-15 had 3 knobs.:dunno:

I had a 1964 Silvertone roundie about 30 years ago. These sets were made by Warwick Electronics for Sears, but the chassis and front-panel layout screamed RCA CTC12. Three knobs on the panel (brightness, color, tint) and a trap door behind which were the contrast, v/h hold and tone controls. Classic RCA CTC12 chassis layout, but I'm not sure anymore about the horizontal output tube. |
