SONY PROJECTION KP-5020 vs KP-7220

Hello

Are the Sony KP-5020 & KP-7220 basically the same set internally?

Looking through the Sony KP-5020/7220 Service Manual, it seems as if all the components are the same, but what makes both models different might be the angle that the Red, Blue and Green tubes/lens are mounted, or the space between the tubes/lenses.

In other words, are they angled further out in the 7220 model, or spaced further apart versus the 5020?

I'm thinking this, because the cover plate for the lenses (#19 on p. 75 of the service manual) is different for both models, with two different part numbers listed. This is the only difference I can find.

Looking further on p.76, I would think that the assembly that the lenses mount on, would also have to be different between both models if I am right about the lens angles or spacing, but the service manual does not list a part number for the assembly.

Reason I ask is I have a Sony 5020, but have an opportunity to buy a 7220. I was able to adjust my 5020 to 72" and the picture looks pretty good.

HOPE SOMEONE OUT THERE CAN TELL ME!

THANKS!

Joe

You'd probably get more responses if you reposted this in the Rectangular Tube & Solid State forum as this is off topic here. Perhaps one of the moderators will move this thread.
