SONY PROJECTION KP-5020 vs KP-7220
Hello
Are the Sony KP-5020 & KP-7220 basically the same set internally? Looking through the Sony KP-5020/7220 Service Manual, it seems as if all the components are the same, but what makes both models different might be the angle that the Red, Blue and Green tubes/lens are mounted, or the space between the tubes/lenses. In other words, are they angled further out in the 7220 model, or spaced further apart versus the 5020? I'm thinking this, because the cover plate for the lenses (#19 on p. 75 of the service manual) is different for both models, with two different part numbers listed. This is the only difference I can find. Looking further on p.76, I would think that the assembly that the lenses mount on, would also have to be different between both models if I am right about the lens angles or spacing, but the service manual does not list a part number for the assembly. Reason I ask is I have a Sony 5020, but have an opportunity to buy a 7220. I was able to adjust my 5020 to 72" and the picture looks pretty good. HOPE SOMEONE OUT THERE CAN TELL ME! THANKS! Joe |

You'd probably get more responses if you reposted this in the Rectangular Tube & Solid State forum as this is off topic here. Perhaps one of the moderators will move this thread.
