Original caps after 100 years, still working.

I powered the radio up with a variac and eventually got it up to 110 volts and nothing was happening, after 10 minutes I came back and it was light up, what a surprise really, figuring the caps in that radio is close to 100 years old.
Just curious if I should wire in new caps underneath anyways?
Since it all worked, I was just woundering if the Atwater-Kent caps had a better paper insulating material in it, that keeps it from shorting, quite amazing that it is still working after 100 years.
