I'm assuming you mean RCA, not RGB, which would be something completely different (more like VGA). As I recall, my N64 had an RCA output (the yellow, white, and red plugs?). Anyway, I'm hoping you tested the coax output on another TV to make sure that works.

That coax-to-VHF adapter you got should work fine. Check what channel output your first coax adapter is set to (perhaps try changing it), and ensure your TV is on that channel. If your TV has the old-fangled channel knobs, you might have to play around with them, and the fine-tuning rings/knobs, too. Also, some old TVs that have their own antenna will have a wire with a spade connector going to the screw terminals for VHF input, make sure that wire is not connected.
