Bought another Aussie radio, the Tasma baby
model 1001This one made around 1947, and a popular model in the Aussie radio collecting community. The little map of Australia is a nice touch. It uses a 6A8 converter, an EBF2GT IF amp and detector, and an EL33 audio power output, and 5Y3 rectifier. It is quite happy with American 240V@60Hz, as transformers made for 50Hz are oversized for 60Hz, and run quite cool. I have a few obsolete Hubbell brand 3 pin outlets, with the UL seal of approval, which turn out to have the same pin pattern as the Aussie outlet, to power my small collection of Aussie radios. ![]() Oddly enough, this radio has no internal power switch, the maker used an inline power cord switch for that.
