On the 14" Philco I just did I accidentally caused a short and fried my fuse resistor.

I replaced it with a pigtail fuse and a Thermistor, the same type used in the Predictas. I didn't do anything fancy like a terminal strip (I was tired of fooling with it), just joined them together and positioned it away from any possible contact with anything else. I used on original base so it just plugs in the original socket if I find a correct one.

I figure the hot resistance is probably fairly close to the 4.7 ohms and it'll give the set a softer start.
