Pretty droll piece of work there....
I had one of that model RCA set back in the early '70s. Instead of the ringlets on the top which presumably had a leather handle running through them mine had a plastic handle that affixed with screws underneath inside the shell. I also remember that I was storing this set with a bunch of boxes of electronic goodies on the landing of the second floor, right near my younger brother's bedroom door. I pulled the set out in front of his door in quest of a part for a project I was building, and forgot to remove the set from the doorway and put it backin front of the parts boxes. My brother got all pissy about it, and vowed if I did that again he'd take the set and throw it down the stairs. (Oh he would, would he?!) So I unsleeved the set, removed the screws holding the handle, resleeved the set and affixed the handle with double-stick tape. And left the set in his doorway again. He claimed he threw his back out when he went to yank up on the handle to heave the set, and came away with only the handle.
