That's a good point. I found myself needing to get rid of close to 150 television sets back about 10 years ago. Even at that time disposal would cost about $15-25 per unit. Fortunately there was a an independently-funded collection drive at the local university, and I got rid of the lot at no cost. I got together with a friend and my girlfriend, and between us we managed to get all the sets carted there in my gf's Dodge Caravan, my friend's Ram truck and my '53 Dodge pickup truck. All vehicles jammed full of sets from the '50s, '60s and '70s--including about 25 color roundies.... As a convoy heading from Plainfield to Amherst we turned a number of heads. Needless to say this all took several trips.

I hope and trust that the organization involved knew how to properly dispose of these sets--especially the ones with the highly poisonous polychrome CRTs.

As prices go this warehouse pictured shows a liability of about 20 grand--if not more....
