An ad .
Lee, here's an ad for a 30" DuMont.
I had to upload it to my site, it's too large to post here. http://www.vintagetvsets.com/images/ads/dumont%2030.bmp |

Very Nice! Those old Dumonts were legendary. That set is so massive I'm wondering why I'm not seeing multiple images in the background from its light-bending capabilities.
I oughta come by and see this one in person at some point. I have service calls that put me near your doorstep...

Of course, you are welcome... It's not here yet. Craters & Freighters are building a Crate for it, as we speak. Let You Know. LJB

When the RA-119 arrives, I'll place it on top. Any more DuMont images? Thanks; Lee

Lee,
This was the most expensive TV receiver then. This cost an extreme fortune then. Few people could even nearly afford one. CRT tubes on this set were regrettably an Achilles heel on these sets. Many survivors don't have a functional CRT which hasn't gone to air. Not much unlike the RCA CT-100 of 1954 fame. Both have in common many non-working CRT tubes and difficult to impossible rebuild options. Just some perspective. I have one of these Dumont Royal Sovereigns stored away with the exact same problem. Like yourself, I desire a solution.

I'm shipping mine to Paris, France, to an outfit called RACS, who will completely rebuild the CRT. New Faceplate, new bonding technique, aluminized, everything. Shipping is 1200 bucks, each way. Rebuilding cost? Getting the estimate as we speak. Anything's possible. LJB

Lee,
Thanks for your information. We plan on getting ours rebuilt. The Rolls-Royce of monochrome TV sets. Tres Chic! |

Did you ever ship your 30BP4 to RACS and if so, do you have a status report? John |

Nope. With a cracked front glass, it was unrebuildable.
I am still on the lookout for a rebuildable 30BP4. Here's Hoping... LJB
