Well I fooled around with the CRT some more tonight.
Seems it has a bad connection, or a short, either inside the neck or hopefully, at the socket.

I put it in my Conrac Monitor chassis to give it some more HV, it behaved the same as it did in a 10" chassis, Raster, no brightness control and no video information.

Tapping the neck caused it to quit altogether, very dim raster.
Soldered the pins and still no picture.
Put it on the Tester and started tapping, it suddenly went to the high end of good (pegged it actually) readjusted the G2 setting and checked again and it now tests like a new CRT!

How long this will last is anyones guess, till it cools of perhaps, is the problem inside or at the socket, I don't know at this point but darn it has a nice picture right now.

Resurrecting this old thread because I now have an excellent CRT for this set.
I bought it from Mrozarka on eBay, it arrived yesterday packed to perfection and testing like a NOS tube.
Lucky it came with the insulator, I stepped on mine and broke it so it got tossed. It's the right insulator so this tube may have come from an Emerson.

I'll need to find some knobs for it, they were all busted up on the shaft ends, these Emersons are fairly common (not this particular one but ones with the same knobs) so hopefully I can find some.

The set has been sitting in my garage since 2011 in pieces, cabinet is stripped and it needs a new piece of veneer across the lower front panel, it'll be a while before I get started on it but at least it's do-able now.
