Mercury 6768... I've got an ECG526A tripler, so if Bryans won't work (it should), let me know.

I don't seem to have any sams or reference guides on this set. I am going to give Dennis a tripler, but would like to make sure he gets the correct one.
The chassis is a 25EC58, so does it take the Zenith part number 212-141-01? Which would be an ECG526A. On the Moyers site I can't find a 212-142-01 (which may be another possibility) It should be in Sams 1370-2 (which I don't have) Last edited by jstout66; 04-30-2012 at 11:14 PM. |

It's Back on the air!
I'd like to thank jstout66 for his gracious offer of a tripler to fix my Zenith Avanti console TV. The TV repairman was here yesterday to install it. He was VERY surprised that I could locate an obsolete part so quickly, installed it, made some adjustments, and the set now plays better than ever!
Attached is a (not very good) photo of the set back in action. HURRAY! |

Nice set!
Avanti models will certainly define the decade for several reasons. Just wait and see. Kind of like what Predicta symbolized for the "atomic age" |

I hope it does define the decade for TVs! Back in 2007, I bought this set in Las Vegas at a midcentury antique store. The proprietor told me that it had been rented/used as a prop in various local TV and movie productions, which is why I got if for a quarter of what she was originally asking. 1974 Zenith Avante IX: brochure photos
I recently found the 1974 Zenith TV catalog/brochure. It's titled "1974 Zenith Solid-State Chromacolor II: an exciting new standard of performance and dependability in color tv", which includes photos and descriptions of the 1974 line of Zenith TV sets, including mine, which I've learned is called the Avante IX, model SE2590X. Now I just need to find the speakers that originally came with it! I've attached scans of the Avante IX page and the page describing remote controls. My set uses the 600X remote control.
P.S. I also found the 1973 Zenith TV catalog/brochure, which features a very similar set called the Avante VI. The 1973 version used the SC 600-X remote, which had oval buttons. |
