Zenith Chromacolor SC600X info
This looks like a 1970s Zenith with pop-up control panel along the back...
Does anyone know if this model is common or scarce? Thanks! Harry |

It's a 1973 model, known as the Anvante VI, model SD2568 it also came with two seperate stereo speakers that were styled similar to the TV cabinet. Its a horizontal solid state chassis, I believe a 25DC56. Ive never seen one in person, but I've seen maybe 2 or 3 of them show up on ebay over the past 13 years. Not a real common set by any means, I'd certainly save one if one shows up around here. The regular console Avantes are much more common. That one you have pictured especially is a nice set because the base hasn't yellowed like so many have.

RARE because it has stereo built in, PLease don't scrap and sell as a movie prop. May be one of only a few surviving sets. COLLECTORS only want the original innards, TV, Chassis, CRT intact.Does it work????

Keep it, repair it and enjoy it. You will most likely never see another one anytime soon.. Friends of the family had one and it was a very good set.

Zenith Avanti
OK, OK....I won't strip it & prop it
![]() If I'm able to buy it, with the speakers, I'll list it on ebay, so a dedicated collector ends up with it...someone who will really appreciate it!! I was shown the set, with a "these are worth a lot" type of wink-wink...and "I might be able to sell it in the not-too-distant future"....so we'll see. Thanks for the info!!! Harry |

I've got one of these, the one with the stereo pop-up, and am looking for a voltage tripler for it. My speaker grilles are slightly different and the area around the stereo is black instead of white, though.
Any ideas on how to identify the necessary part number and/or part would be MUCH appreciated. It's a great set and I want to get it operational again! Last edited by mercury6768; 01-30-2012 at 02:58 PM. Reason: edit |

I recommend getting the sam's folder for it. That will give you a detailed schematic and parts list with substitute components listed.

Thanks, Tom, I will do that. I took the back off the set and the model number is 25EC58. I could not find a date of manufacture anywhere on the set, but it appears that the serial number is 3210905.

Had a TV repairman come to look at it today. It needs a T203 tripler -- anyone have an idea where I can obtain one? Thanks.

I believe "T203" was taken from the paper label inside the cabinet? In the Sams T203 is the pincushion transformer. If it is indeed the tripler, Sams says there were 2 versions. Some used Zenith part number 212-142-01 while others used one that was combined with a focus bleeder, part number 212-141-01. I can't vouch for this company, but they list both part numbers (but may not stock them?)
http://www.ued.net/catalog/cat_item_idx_1899.html Somebody on here might have one in their stash, as well.

Thanks for your note, it is very helpful. Especially the link, as that source did not turn up in a web search I did yesterday. We got the "T203" from the Sam's schematic, but it is hard to read and could also be T208, which is listed in the parts list as a transformer (and I realize that tripler is a type of transformer). The part number for T208 is 95-3076-1, so I have another question for you: is there a way to tell from that number if either of the part numbers you gave above are the right one (and is there a cross-reference chart you could refer me to), or should I start chasing part number 95-3076-1?
Thanks again for your help, it is TRULY appreciated. Dennis |

The part you should be looking at on the Sams is actually CR225 (listed under semiconductors). I'm very weak on solid state sets myself. One of the best places to buy parts for TV sets this age is here:
http://www.moyerelectronics.com/ Best to email them letting them know what you need. Now, I used the cross reference for NTE that they link to and it says to use an NTE 526A (confirmed in a book I have). The ECG book/online reference says to use 523. Just last week I was given a box of triplers and it includes an NTE 523 with a little label that says 523A/526A. Got all that? I'd be happy to send it to you, we can sort out what it might be worth later, once you see if it works. You can send me a PM with your address if interested.
