A tube tester is good for checking that the heaters are still intact, although you can do that with a DVM and a tube basing chart (on the internet). Testers can also test for shorts and basic emission, but still the best test for any tube is in the equipment in which it is designed to serve. Sometimes a tube that tests bad or marginal in a tube tester will work fine in a device.

The tubes you desire are getting to get REALLY expensive. Surely due to the demand. Seems like prices for tubes for tube audio equipment have gone thru the roof the last couple of years, yet you can buy NOS 80 year old tubes reasonably. Some kind fellows to offer you a tube tester. |
