There are two types of lenses used in LED sets. The domed ones use a smaller LED than the cylindrical ones. I've never seen the domed ones fall off.
So I've decided to re-assemble the rattlevision. It had been dissassembled on the LR floor for 2 months.
The results are good even with the yellow LEDs. I'm thinking the yellow is caused by a lower than expected voltage. You really don't notice it unless you know where to look.

LED color doesn't change with dimming, so those are simply yellower LEDs and always will be.
