Someone on Prelinger said this was a Process shot used for rear projection in a scene where the actors are in a car. They claimed the movie is Shockproof from 1949 (which would verify old tv nut's 1948 claim) I'm going to watch it tonight and see if it's true.

I was able to snag these off the screen, the beginning of the film is the beginning of the ride, it's on the steep hill, later you can spot the same car seen in the footage behind them.

That car looks to be a 1940 Lincoln.

I saw a 1949 Studebaker and a 1949 Buick. Those were the latest model cars I could see. Therefore I believe the film was made in 1949 or 1950.

...or late 1948. The Big Three had a gentleman's agreement in place that sales of the new model year would start on October 1 of the year prior. This very well could have been shot sometime in October, November or December of 1948.
