Diodes? I got diodes?

Okay, since I've replaced (I think) all the electrolytic caps, maybe it's a diode that went belly-up.

I see two on the schematic that are in the power supply (X1 and X2). So I guess I'll replace 'em.

Now how the heck do I order them? the original part number is 212-37 for both. The SAMS has separate columns for "Rectifiers & Diodes" and just "Rectifiers". It says the measured current is .500A. What the heck do I ask for when I ask for them?

I am so confused...

you can go to any ratshack and get them. i normally get 1n4005 diodes, they work good in a variaty of applications.

You might have to have high surge current diodes, which they sell those too. Big fat round ones.

Diodes are pretty easy; I always seem to forget which way is positive/negative but its worth a second look-you don't want to put them in backwards. The new one might not look like the old one.

yes, because newer ones could have a higher/better rating than older ones, while the older ones are twice the size of the newer one!

the 1n4007 they sell at ratshack as 2.5a 1kv will replace any diode in that set but the detector.
