I'm BACK at last!!!

After Jan died in May of '03, grief had been slowly robbing me of my motivation to continue with the company we started together. I tried for a while, but it was hard to keep going without Jan and I eventually took on a "second job" in October '04 which virtually took over my entire existence until I finally decided I had taken enough abuse at the hands of a massive corporation. I also had my share of attempts to start new relationships with women who turned out to be entirely too selfish to be as supportive of my ambitions as they expected me to be of theirs.

Things have changed for the better, a new and supportive lady is now a part of my life, and I'm back. I'm learning about and helping with the mobile computer networking needs of Jamie's catering business while she is enthusiastically learning about the work I do with vintage electronics. We're even trolling the antique malls together. She searches for antique restaurant utensils to display on the walls of the commercial kitchen she is preparing to open as I cruise the same aisles in search of vintage television, radio, hi-fi and test gear. I'm teaching her how to set up a VPN connection at her shop that she can access from her WiFi enabled laptop via my WiFi network or similar hookups at hotels so we can attend conventions together in our respective fields. I expect that she and I will be at the ETF convention together this May. We're already starting to plan for it to be on our "road trip schedule" this year.

I'm back.

Well, since I'm relatively new around here (little over a year), please let me welcome you back and share your enthusiasm for your happiness and endeavors.

There's a great song from the mid-1980s by the British band Genesis, entitled "It's Gonna Get Better"...and it will. Welcome back!

Now that I'm not wasting my time working as an Administrator (supposedly a promotion from entry-level Production) for a company that decided to give its Production employees raises that put their wage $1 higher than people who were just "promoted" but didn't get the Production-only raise and also no longer stuck with a 4PM-1AM shift, I'll be much more active here. I just got my B&K 1076 finished with a thorough inspection, re-forming of its electrolytics, leakage tests on all the tubular caps, new RTV coating on the flyback, bench tested and producing a nice strong signal on channels 2-8 plus 12 & 13 (the channel switch doesn't include positions for 9, 10 or 11 for some reason).
