Sparton Mirror radio on Ebay

It is not my radio. A $2,000 bid with 6 hours to go. Thought it was worthy of posting and discussion.

It was overkill to chrome the chassis (not original). But maybe I'm just a fussbudget.

I'm with you Sandy.

A few years ago my publisher gave me a $5000.00 Swiss watch; but it's so pretty, I'm afraid some 'banger on the subway with his pants halfway down his crack is 'gonna stick a knife in my ribs and disappear into the darkness with it. It sits in its pretty little wood box 51 weeks out of the year.

I feel the same about this radio. Yeah, it’s pretty, but pretty useless to me. My radios earn their keep my playing loud and long. I don't need any more flowerpots, but it is good to see the interest in vintage radio and prices that reflect that.

I've fallen into a bit of a Marantz tailspin lately; re-capping stereo speakers and spending money on lamp kits. Once that little issue is cleared up, I'll get to my long overdue EMUD project. It's prettier than that Sparton!
