This is the latest score of my collection. Anyone have any idea in what year those were made?
I found that so cute I knew I had to buy it. But that was not the main reason for buying it. I bought it for nostalgic reasons, because I had thousands of these littles TVs when I was a kid. Same type, with a button below that you pressed to view slides. Every newsstand in Rio de Janeiro in the 1980's had tons of these toy TVs to sell. Unfortunately I usually broke all of them, they were so fragile. Only differences between the ones I had in the 80's and that one is that the ones I had were "1960's style TV sets" and they had color slides to view. I have been searching for this kind of toy television for years, without any luck. Oddly, I was able to find this american model, but can't find the type I had as a kid. In the auction, there was a "genious" who asked "how many channels it was able to receive" . |

Someone gave me one in the 80's. It was an upright 50's console-styled one with a nude picture of Marilyn Monroe inside
What was even cooler was a small plastic movie camera toy I got Christmas '62. It was a bright pink/white swirled plastic, with a small crank on the side. Inside was a small loop of 8mm film that animated when you turned the crank! Never saw another one like it again, but it sure looked like catalin, thinking back through a old collector's hazy memory. |

I have one in my tiny collection of tiny TVs. The back says Made in China, which suggests that it's not terribly old. It shows pictures of dogs.
The TV bank with a clown says Emerson UltraWave Television on the back. The upright metal TV Bank has the name of a TV dealer on the back. The little one in the lower left is a pencil sharpener. It is dated 1962 on the back and has a picture that alternates between a rocket blastoff and a flying Sputnik when you angle it back and forth. I also have a pencil holder shaped like a 1955 Westinghouse TV (not shown here). Phil Nelson |

Mine have "Made in Hong Kong" written on the back. I believe it must be at least relatively old, because the pictures of New York are in black and white, and they seem to have been taken in the 50's , at least the picture of Times Square.
Also, my father said that when he travelled to New York for the first time in 1967, those types of souvenirs were quite common. |

Well, it sure is cute...It'd be fun to have one to put atop a '50s era console.

Hehe, that's exactly where mine is right now...on the top of my 1956 Philco. I may post a picture of them here, but the little one is so tiny that I don't know if I can make a good shot of them together.

Do that. I would like to see the 56 Philco in the picture. I have one myself. THE reliable vintage set of ALL time IMHO...

I had some of those TV slide viewers when I was a child as well. That was in the late 60's or early 70's, so mine were probably made in Hong Kong.

They would make cool Christmas tree ornaments. Especially if you slip a pic of Rudolph or Charlie Brown inside.

Here is a Wiggle TV pencil sharpener that I have had since about the early '60's. The sharpener is underneath. It has one of those plastic grating screens that when you tilt the "set" up and down, the dog's nose appears to twitch as he tries to get the fly off of it.
