garage sale find
On a whim I stopped at a garage sale this morning, kind of looking for a shelf unit or some cabinets for my garage. Instead, I spied an old-fashioned radio. Wooden encloser about 10" w by 8" high, single AM dial in the middle, and what I guess to be a volume control below it. There is a plate that says "Imperial". It has 5 tubes visible I don't think the back is supposed to be open but it is. A search through "Radio Attic's Archives" doesn't turn up a look alike. There is a back plate that says:
Licensed under Patents by RADIO CORPORATION OF AMERICA GENERAL ELECTRIC COMPANY WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC & MFG CO HAZELTINE CORPORATION (bunch of serial numbers listed) Then what appears to be Serial Number 25-95403. If there is any interest, I'll take some pictures and post them up. Then, When I brought it to the lady to pay for it, she showed me another one. "This one works" she says. It's a Motorola tabletop AM radio, Model 56H4, but the plastic top is cracked. I got both for $10. I really don't have a big interest in these guys but thought it would be fun to bring them home and see if you guys could tell me more about my find. Here's a pic I found online, courtesy of "Radio Attic's Archives"
