Keeping my fingers crossed
Hi Tom and Chad,
Thanks for the advice. I’m going to post this same request on antiqueradios.com/forums tonight and keep my fingers crossed. What happened is that the motor is open on one set of windings and because the dial string was busted, I never thought to fully check the motor because it was turning one way. After completely recapping and then restringing this thing I discovered the motor trouble then I just put it aside. That was four years ago. But this thing plays 78’s better than anything I’ve ever owned and because I now have immediate access to my 78 collection, I’m on a mission. If worse comes to worse, I’ll try to retrofit a new motor but the set-up is like clockworks and there’s a clutch that I’d have to bust free and then JB weld and hope it works. I figured that it could be easier to just find a trashed chassis or another motor, then again, the 1135 is sixty years old and yes, it does weigh more than my CTC-7. Thanks again, Jeff |
