Newbie needs radio ID
Hello,

VERY nice condition... a 1933 model, I believe. This would be the model 18H - the H for the "highboy" cabinet. I would guess that it would sell for $150-200... BUT... console radios have a limited market, as most don't have the room.
8 tubes would make this a fairly high-end set for those days... should have reception on the AM broadcast band, though that's the ONLY band it has... They extended the upper end to 1720 KHz to receive the police frequencies used then, so it receives the whole current AM band (which now goes from 540-1710 KHz) |

That IS the problem... You can list if on eBay - "local pickup only" since it would be difficult and expensive to ship... or use the local methods - Craigslist and newspaper ads...
Where are you located? That can make a BIG difference! In Pennsylvania where thay were made, Philco like this are in every third attic... in California they're hen's teeth... my collector's book says $125-150 for this model (in complete, restorable condition) which will also vary with location. |
