I think this model may be a bit smaller than what I had so if it was local I would jump on it. This could be a diamond in the rough......

Philco Curb Find
A friend here in Milwaukee sent me a lead about an old tv set. It was an add on Craigslist. The add read something like this. "Old tv set probably early 1950's on the corner of Williams and Otjen behind the Bay View Library"
How sad, I thought, the poor thing is sitting out in the rain with nobody to love it. So the next morning I drove over there. I figured it would probably be a relatively Mid 60ish set with little desire for it on my part. Well I was wrong. It was a 1950 12" Philco roundie. In very sad condition, but not beyond redemption. So I put it in my van and now it has a nice warm place out of the rain, waiting for me to restore it some day.

Stromberg Carlson Grand Rapids update
UPDATE: I picked up the Stromberg Carlson today. The woman I got the set from said that it used to belong to her grandfather. He bought it new. I think this set cost a bundle when new. She said her grandfather was well to do. Worked as a factory worker in a leather factory. And he invested in Land, and he was very tight with his money.
Cabinet is about an 8 on the 10scale. Should be easy to fix up the dings and scrapes. WHAT A MONSTER! It's a 19AP4 crt set. 2 chassis (main and power supply) Control panel is concealed under a small lift up cover at the top front edge of the set (similar to the way a piano keyboard is covered) The strange part is that some of the knobs on the control panel use a speedometer cable flexible shaft system that extends the knobs on the control panel down to the acutal controls which are located on the chassis in the bottom of the set. The set is still in the van and I won't be able to get photos until Monday. I will post the pictures on Monday. There is no tube placement chart pasted inside the cabinet, and the back is missing. So if anyone has an idea of what the model number is, please clue me in. There are some numbers stamped in the chassis but I cant read them until the set is removed from my van on Monday. Perhaps that will give me a clue. I also picked up the 21" 1956 Admiral color set in Detroit today too.

Sams lists the TC-19 as folder 97-17, so I should have the folder in my Sams library. What does the LM sufix stand for? .... Let me guess .... LM = Large monster ![]() ![]() Bob
