First Romanian tv set

Here is the first Romanian tv set, an V.S. 43-611.
http://forum.softpedia.com/index.php...post&id=175779
http://forum.softpedia.com/index.php...post&id=175780
http://forum.softpedia.com/index.php...post&id=175781

- V.S. stood for video sunet = video sound (the radios had only an S for Sound, execpet those manufcatured by "Electromagnetica/Grigore Preoteasa" wich had EM in stad of S)
- 43 stood for the diagonale, 43 cm = 17"
- 61 for 1961
- 1 for model 1

The tv set was assambled at "Electronica" Factory from Bucharest under licence "CSF" - France. The factory still exist, but it was split it 3. The production now is very low, the majority of the room beeing rented.
The knob was mounted on the right side. The antena mounted on the top of the set wa manufactured by "Electromureş (Electromuresh)" from Târgu Mureş. A intresting fact is that this tv set used 75 ohms coaxial cable. Later tube models had 300 ohms antena cable. Another intresting thing is that the case was made from metla, not from wood as at later models.
Later I'll put some tehnical infos.

The tv is in custody of Muzeul U.P.B. (U.P.B. = Universitatea "Polithenica" Bucureşti) = The Musem of "Polithenica (the Poliethnics)" Bucharest University.

Nice set. Just curious, what makes/models are the other 3 sets in the pics. The one on the right looks like a Telefunken, but I'm not sure.

Dumont-First with the finest in television.

The one from the right is an "Diamant (Diamond)" tv set (it's an 15x or 25? model x = a number betwen 1 and 3)."Diamnat" was oroginially an soviet tv. The one bellow is an "Grigorescu" (I don't know the model). The one from the left is an "Sport" (neither this time I don't know the model) portable set ("Sport" where the portable tv sets Made in Romania). Except the "Sport", those others are hevay, so it's hard to take them some pics. I just past throu a surgery now, but when I will recover I'll try to get some pics of the others too!

That set, in terms of styling, bears a striking resemblance to late 50's american metal portables.

Nice looking set! Like fsjonsey said it reminds you of the metal portables we had here in the 50's.

Untill around 1970 the Romanian tv sets where assambled at the old "Electronica" factory (former "Philips România", former "Radio Popular/People's Radio") on Str. Baicului nr. 82/#82 Street of Baicu. The buldgings are still existing. The new "Electronica" was demolished few years ago (at the new factory Telecolor 3007's where assambled). Some managed to take some pics... the bastratds didn't allowed yout to take pictures, 'cause the Romanians must no have history.
