Montgomery Ward airline 1479a

i am trying to fix my grandfathers old 5 band ward gen 1479a and one of the guides for the frequency slide is broken inside. my grandfather kept it on the same radio station for years and he didn't realize it was broken until that radio station changed. anyway if anyone has a pic of the original setup of it or diagram i would appreciate it so that i can rig this the right way. everything still works and i hear static when i turn it on, just trying to fix it so that i can use it and my daughters can keep a bit of history with them. if you need a pic of what i am faced with let me know. thanks

I have tried all different combinations of running the "string", and i just can't figure it out.
I have searched here but haven't found a pic of it yet.

You might try the message boards at antiqueradios.com.

The service info for this set is in Sams TSM-106, which is 1969. You may be able to find a copy on eBay.
