The file has a .7z suffix which means it has been compressed using the 7zip format. You will need a program that supports this format to decompress it. I would recommend you download the 7zip program, it is free, small and versatile.
To find the download link, just search for "7zip" in your search page of choice.

I've made some progress on the chassis recently.
I've cleaned the PCB of most of its gunk but I'm not going to bother about the remaining flux residue thats visible. I've replaced the few paper capacitors that were fitted and resoldered many of the PCB mounted valve sockets which had dry joints. After removing the valves I've applied a reduced voltage to the chassis to check on component condition. So far the Ducon polyester capacitors seem to be quite healthy with minimal leakage. The electrolytics are mostly OK at this stage except for one. After a few more leakage tests on the chassis, I hope to soon have it refitted and see if it runs.

I'm tempted to take you up on the offer of a tube TV dr.ido, but I think I have the same space issue... Although not to the extent of your warehouse..
I have seen so many TV's on the side of the road too up for garbage collection. But I just got rid of the one in my room to make space, so getting another one wouldent make much sense. Keep us posted with the TV though AndrewM, I wanna see how this one works out.

The Astor has just passed its first full power test today. Predictably there are issues to be sorted out but the presence of 3/4 full screen raster is a reassuring sign that the important bits are working still.

Here's a picture of the Astor displaying a test pattern. I have not adjusted the picture geometry yet and so there is poor horizontal linearity due to the recent capacitor replacements.
The set is still running on its original tubes and except for a half dozen capacitors, all original components. I'm quite surprised at how well its lasted. The biggest remaining job needed is to replace or re-engineer an alternative power switch. The original is beyond salvage and is not easy to source.

It's good to see it live again. My internet access has been spotty at the moment, so I haven't been around much.
It's that time of year again for another curbside collection in my area. Despite my current space problems I won't be able to resist seeing what's out there. I will have to try my hardest to not pick up any more silver plastic sets, but If there's anything old, interesting or unusual out there I will have to pick it up (even if only to pass it on to someone else).
