For all you collectors, even after collecting the TV's you have, what is that
# 1 TV you are seeking that would be the cherry on top of the cake ?


I never thought I would get a 60's color set, still working, in excellent condition, and in a traditional style. I'm now a lucky owner of a color 69 Sylvania in a cherry french provincial cabinet........but

if I ever get another TV for the other room....I want a 60's color roundie in a nice traditional console with remote control.....I have a old 1964 Admiral ad that features a roundie in a french cabinet with remote. I spend a lot of time looking at that photo when I'm in my work room (I have old ads framed on my wall)......I'm amazed at the remote sets of that era.

A 36 to 40 inch CRT based TV set with a CRT at least as good as the Zenith Chromacolor CRT's, a chassis built like a tank and easy to repair, able to receive both analog and HDTV and display HD at its full resolution, multiple audio and video in/outputs, including some in the front, and well made internal speakers with a good solid state amp to power them.

I can think of a few sets I daydream of:

One of the late 50s Philco color sets

One of the late 50s RCA remote color sets

The GE KE chassis color console we had when I was a kid.

Do you mean color sets only as this is the early color forum, In that case i really like that Philco Roundie that one of the other members found not too long ago. It has a Magic eye tube tuning indicator. If you mean all time favorite it would be an Scott "6T?" B&W projection set

A 1954-55 era 19" color set-Did any of those survive intact & working ? One of the Sony 40" or 43" CRT sets-They were for sale, then they weren't, yeah, now they are again, nope, now we've took 'em off the market...

Yes it's me Chris. I am loving the TV. When people come to my office they ask me about it and I tell them about you and your great collection.

I'm jealous of that Zenith 65 roundie color set in the french provincial cabinet on your site.....that is a nice set...then again, ALL of your sets are nice.

That 68 RCA in the white provincial cabinet looks like a rare one too.

The only TVs with magic eyes that I can recall are early B/W sets (DuMont, Crosley) with a continuous tuner and FM radio coverage. For those, it makes sense to have a magic eye for FM radio tuning.

For TV operation, a magic eye seems redundant. Isn't the CRT the best magic eye of all?

I'm curious about that Philco with an eye. Do you know where to find a photo?

It uses one of those tuning eye tubes like german radios use except it is turned on it's side. He posted a few nice pictures of it there.

For me, probably an RCA CT-100 would do it, and also a prewar RCA.

If I only knew in 1980 what I know now...

I'd be happier 'n' a Pig in Shit w/a 621TS, too..I like them better than a prewar set. Guess I'll just hafta keep my '48 Admiral 7" bakelite & be happy...

My dream set would have to be a '55 21CT55, It used a slightly modified CTC-2 to power the 21" tube {CTC-2B I think}. Or a '62 Zenith color set with Space Command. I also would like to have something from the '50s like a Hoffman or Sylvania but I'm not gonna hold my breath for one of any of these, but the eyes are always lookin' for one. Ah hell, I'll be honest, I want one of every roundie made! RCA "5th anniversary of color" sets catch my eye too. And the CT-100, obviously!

I love this TV. Picked it up last year and watch it everyday in the family room.

19" Trinitron, 1982.

Really like watching the Cubs games on this TV, very warm, rich color.




Now you guys have me looking for a Portacolor and I'd like to find a 70's Zenith console in mint shape. I'll be checking the garage sales this Spring.
