Got me a new PAL!

Saw a Craigslist ad for a PAL, NIB for $75. It was an early model (low serial #), and the battery had to be re-addressed in order to take a charge.

I've been using a Tivoli Model One for a few years and love it, and the PAL always seemed interesting (if pricey... $225 MSRP).

It's really sweet sounding. Happy camper (literally).

It's very cute. We have a cherry Tivoli Model One in our kitchen and I love it (although my family would prefer a dial with presets ).

Is that an external "rubberized" finish there PM?

We've got a red one from about 5 years ago. It plays in the kitchen nearly 12 hours a day and goes camping with us, too. Gave up trying to keep it pretty, and it's faded quite a bit from the sun. We hook up our diskman to it when camping, too.

The battery tends to not hold a charge after a while, so every couple years I've taken the unit to "Battery USA" or whatever that place is called and they build a new powerpack out of the latest and greatest rechargeable AAs for about $20.

Overall, the most satisfying of audio purchases I've made.

We got our daughter one when she matriculated into college (2002); she still uses it regularly. Nice little package it is/was.

I was surprised to see how much they've gone up in price since we got ours. We only paid $110, which was full retail at that time.

So good deal!

I was shocked, too. I thought the seller was blowing smoke (claiming it was $225), so I looked... and then jumped!

Yep. Rubberized exterior. Rechargeable batteries. Aux (iPod) input. STEREO output (headphones or aux/tuner input on amp). About 80% the size of a Model One.

It's cool beans.
