Panasonic 740 Table Radio Antenna Terminals
I always wanted to hook up some rabbit ears to my Panasonic 740 table radio, but the terminals have no screws. Instead they have these plug sockets. Is their any plug i could buy at Radio Shack, or buy on line that i could use to hook up a pair of rabbit ears? The piece of metal that serves as the indoor antenna gets poor reception. When the radio gets good reception its fairly loud.

Kind of hard to see if that hole goes deep enough, but it looks like a standard banana plug might work.

I'm thinking a banana plug will be too fat.
I have one of these, only in ivory, I never seen another one of these before. Wy wife listens to it in the kitchen on a regular basis, and I fear the 12AJ7 converter will eventually fail (I have all the others, but the 12AJ7 is a rarity on this side of the Pacific). You may try kinking a bare wire into a hairpin and tighten the hairpin until it is the right thickness to fit snugly. One more quirk about the radio - the AM ferrite bar is not mounted parallel to the radio cabinet us one might expect, it is almost (but not quite!) perpendicular to it. As a result, if you wanted to listen to an AM station dead North of you, do not position the radio so it faces North or South as one might expect, it should face ESE or WNW! Rob |

I think they are more akin to the small pins that were common with twin lead plugs and wall sockets back in the 60's.

![]() Strip enough insulation off to give you some wire to work with, twist it back on itself, and wind it around until it's just the right thickness to fit tightly. Works great.

Works for a lot more than just these...Hate to admit it, but for a long time, I fed my 390As similarly, 'cause they use a somewhat hard-to-find antenna connector. Still use this method for my British RACAL RA-17, it uses another oddball connector that's Unobtanium on this side of th' Pond..
